Goodwood 01/06/02 - Trackday with Trevor Willard Racing |
|
Some pictures and video of the R32 turbo taxi :-) on my first 'proper' trackday, smoothly run by Trevor Willard Racing, maybe a more detailed report plus further pictures to follow (if I can find some pics without me in them, that is :-)... But in the meantime a quick thank you to Trevor Willard for the instruction, I was listening honest ! and did improve slowly on what you saw (endured :-) in that first session :-).... SteveC for the in car videoing.... also good to see PeterE, no comment on my driving eh !! I'll take that as a compliment :-) although I think you were just being kind ;-)..... and Chris H, just a wee bit to much 'ballast' mate :-) as we hit the bump stops on some of them right handers. Finally Martin (my son) for the camera work, pretty good considering he came straight there from his Friday night rave !!.... All in all great fun, being my first go I was not intending to set any records just to get a feel for the car and track driving, thankfully I managed to keep it on the Black stuff and not impede the others, too much :-)... RonS Ready to rock and roll, ChrisH providing the 'ballast' :-)....... and we're off !!
Little competition on track... well for the Tuscan, EVO, GT3, Radical and others, all easily passed me :-), Click here for video (409Kb) of a Pits fly past and another Click here (310Kb) (Martin on camera)
...and just a tiny wee flame too !... cool :-)
Some nice in car shots, cheers Steve, what a lovely day for a drive :-).. Click here for video (1376Kb) of a full lap
The damage, well despite my reservations the budget Khumo's faired pretty well, considering I did somewhere in the order of 50 laps, but as expected the biggest handicap was the brakes (yet to be examined) although new pads (£22 Ferodo's :-) and fluid certainly helped... Trevor warmed them up nicely and had them smoking after just 2 fast laps :-), so I took it somewhat easy on them after that, generally lapping in around 1m 50s, picture of NSF tyre
Minor problem after the 10 o'clock session, with PeterE on board, I had 'capped' the turbo bleed valve pending it's removal, unfortunately it had come off, raising the boost to around 1bar... eekk!!, some small amount of oil was blown out also... umm ?? will check that, resealed it and had no other problems with the mechanicals, she run as sweet as all day... thanks Nissan :-) |
