PROJECT R32 - BRAKE
UPGRADE
Here's the current front
brakes, single pot (disc 280mm) as my old 200SX, strange should be 4 pot
calipers on a Type M... ummm !!
27/04/02 - Plan 1... Got a new Nissan 4 pot
caliper (R33
GTS-t I
believe) on 'approval', from Gary at GTaRt
cheers mate :-), will see if they fit,
easily ?.... tried the Nissan 4 pot caliper (first rain for a month and look at the surface rust eh !!) and it
fits fine, but needs the bigger discs (296mm)
18/05/02 - Plan 2... got a
Brembo 4 pot caliper and disc (ex R33 GTR), again from Gary at GTaRt.. sadly the disc is just to big to fit (324mm), I placed the disc inside
the wheel (16x8JJ) it gave about 12-15mm clearance so no room for the caliper,
needs a 17" wheel, shame I would have loved to have had the Brembo's

27/05/02 - Could not
live with the current front pads, prior to getting the 4 pots sorted, so put
some new Ferodo part no. FDB600A (same as 200SX -
£22.00) and Response DOT4 fluid (£4 - 500ml), which has improved things
20/07/02 - Back to plan 1,
acquired some secondhand 296mm discs, from Mark at Abbey
Motorsport , in
fairly good condition. Used the new calipers and shim set, from Gary at GTaRt, new Nissan pads,
clips etc, to end up with these, cost so far under £300 pretty good
I think :-), may also change the hoses to braided all round later on

Nissan Part
Numbers (same brakes as 300ZX TT, 200SX S14 & S15)
4 pot caliper - 2 x 41011-05U01
Shim set - 1 x 41080-40P26 (parts in picture 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5)
Retaining pin - 4 x 41217-30P00 (6)
Retaining clip - 2 x 41090-40P02 (7)
Pad set - 1 x 41060-37P91
06/08/02 - Nissan pads no
good too noisey and produce far too much dust :-(... so changed to EBC 'Green
Stuff' EBC Part No. DP21200 ('Red
Stuff' EBC Part No.
DP31200) from Amber
Performance (£90 with next day delivery).... will see how they
perform ?..

Note. EBC list the above
pads for R32 GTR (non V Spec), R33 GTS (Grey caliper with white NISSAN writing,
as mine),
200SX S14 & S15, 300ZX TT and Subaru WRX MY99 and later
04/10/02 - Changed front
discs, as getting squeal when hot from the old one's, using a secondhand set of
R32 GTR drilled discs, purchased cheap :-), with a spare set of GTR wheels, see WHEELS
