PROJECT R32 - BOOT LEAK 10/08/02 - Well it all started with a soggy carpet, in my boot, removed the carpet and boot trim to investigate... with the aid of a kettle of water the culprit was soon found, the offside rear light cluster, undid the four securing nuts, gave it a big shove it was out :-) It was obvious as soon as it was removed, the top and left came away 'clean', the seal had been lost... no prob down to my local car shop and purchase a tube of silicone sealant (£4.75), liberally apply new sealant, to both the body and cluster... refit and done :-) Also checked the rear inner wings... Eeekk !! the offside has a couple of inches water in it... Umm! must be a drain somewhere ??, sure is... the grommet was clogged with cr*p, removed it (got soaked :-), cleared the rubbish, refitted grommets.. ensuring the gap was a the bottom :-), poured some water into the wing and it drained away fine... So next time your under the car, check your grommets :-), it's a whole easier then dealing with some nasty rust !!
