PROJECT R32 - WHEELS

First picture is my White wheels, with 225/40ZR16 tyres on 8Jx16 R32 GTR forged rims, that the car came with. Second is a Grey set, recently purchased (from DaveW along with the drilled front discs, cheers mate :-) same R32 GTR rims, but with the standard 225/50ZR16 tyres

The dilemma...

White wheels  - The tyres are in the order of 7% smaller than standard, thus speed/revs is down in proportion, harsh ride, large gaps in arches, not nice :-(

Grey wheels - Now I prefer the look of these in the arches, the ride is softer although it tramlines more, however the rears rub on the arch return lip when cornering, although the fronts seem OK I am not able to push it hard enough, because of the rears, to find out

Solutions ??...

1. Reduce or fold back the lip of the rear arches and possibly ease the wing out... will this take to much rigidity out of the wing ? umm scary !!
2. Compromise, use a 225/45ZR16 tyre, around 3% undersized.. are they a common size/cost ?, will they still rub if the car is pushed harder ?, be to late to find out after a set is bought :-(
3. Live with the current tyre size... no rubbing problems
4. Or... some brilliant wheeze you have though of ???
